Our Story
Where It All Began
The Haven was officially founded in 2021 by four Christian businessmen from Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Darren Compton, Robert Curtis, Troy Rumbolt, and Clarence White. Today they, along with Dawn Park and Tammy Curtis now compile the Haven’s first board of directors.
The Haven was largely established because of the many ways that these four men—and the larger Deer Lake community—helped one broken and addicted man recover his life and embark on a new journey that is marked by God’s grace in each and every step he takes.
Recognizing the miracle that had taken place in this man’s life, the founders determined to establish the Haven of Rest for other men who fell on hard times and then landed in the grips of addiction.
